First, let’s acknowledge the steep price of the unit and the filters. The cost of the unit is high, but the cost of the filters is absurd. What pushed me toward this unit is the warranty. I bought 12 Winix machines and 3 of them only lasted about 2.5 years - just past the warranty. I hate buying disposable products that wind up in a landfill. So I was looking for air purifiers that are built to last. With a 10 year warranty, at least LG has a high opinion of their design quality. The app pairing cost me some gray hairs - and I would rate myself at a 10 out of 10 for working with technology. But the filter was easy to install and the unit looks nice - albeit large. The 800+ square foot coverage is nearly twice the Winix. I also liked the LED UV light - that should be a no brainer since COVID for every air purifier. The detailed information regarding particulate matter in the air is impressive. The ability to turn off the lights is critical for use in a bedroom as is the nearly silent operation. The air diffuser is nice for the winter. The oscillating feature is nice for the Summer. The magnetic remote storage indicates design innovation to me. It’s missing a heating function to compete with Dyson. Time will tell, but first impression gives it ? - I will probably be gradually replacing my Winix with LG.
